During his over 50 year career as a performer, Michael H. Small has appeared in almost every aspect of the entertainment industry. Trained in musical theater, he has also performed in films, television, radio, and opera. Michael has toured the country as a stand-up comedian, a cabaret performer, and as a member of several specialty acts. He has performed with or for such talented people as Jane Fonda, Dudley Moore, Alan Alda, Michael Learned, and Rod Steiger.
As an actor, Michael has worked in theaters all over the country. He is proud to have been a cast member in 18 productions of Fiddler On The Roof, working with the likes of Mike Burstyn, Hershel Bernardi, and Bruce Sabath.
In January 2019, Michael joined the national touring cast of Old Jews Telling Jokes. Engagements included Dallas, Phoenix, and Palm Springs, where the pandemic shuttered the production.
2024 appearances included Michael's 17th production of Fiddler On The Roof, playing Lazar Wolf and understudying Broadway's Bruce Sabath, followed by Carousel, both at The Wick Theatre in Boca Raton. In June, Michael appeared in his 18th production of FIDDLER, playing the Rabbi and understudying Broadway's Thom Christopher Warren at The Shenandoah Summer Music Theatre in Virginia.
Thus far in 2025, Michael has appeared in Glengarry Glen Ross in Fort Lauderdale, FL and a wonderful outdoor production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum for Ronnie Larsen's Presents in Wilton Manors, FL.
His performance in Brooklyn Boy at GableStage in Miami garnered him a Carbonell nomination and he is a proud recipient of The Silver Palm for his work in The Sunshine Boys.
A much sought-after Emcee and Host, Michael has worked with such renowned performers as Robert Klein, David Brenner, Tony Orlando, Lucie Arnaz, and Jon Secada, among others.
As an opening act, he has performed with acts as diverse as The Tokens and Avi Hoffman.
