During his over 40 year career as a performer, Michael H. Small has appeared in almost every aspect of the entertainment industry. Trained in musical theater, he has also performed in films, television, radio, and opera. Michael has toured the country as a stand-up comedian, a cabaret performer, and as a member of several specialty acts. He has performed with or for such talented people as Jane Fonda, Dudley Moore, Alan Alda, Michael Learned, and Rod Steiger.
As an actor, Michael has worked in theaters all over the country. He is proud to have been a cast member in 16 productions of Fiddler On The Roof, working with the likes of Mike Burstyn, Hershel Bernardi, and David Masters.
The last 2 years have been busy. 2017 was a productive year; book-ended by world premieres at Theatre Lab: Allison Gregory's Motherland and Peter Sagal's Most Wanted. In between, there were back-to-back roles at Actor's Playhouse in their productions of All The Way and It Shoulda Been You, a cameo in Outre Theatre's 1984, and a well-received production of Sunshine Boys at The Stage Door Theatre, for which Michael was awarded The Silver Palm Award .
2018 has featured roles in Nice Work If You Can Get It and Breaking Up Is Hard To Do, both at The Stage Door Theatre. Michael also appeared in My One & Only at The Lauderhill Performing Arts Center. Recent roles of note include Leo in the critically acclaimed World Premiere production of Unlikely Heroes at The Mizner Park Cultural Arts Center in Boca Raton. (See sizzle reel on VIDEO page)
In January, Michael joined the national touring cast of Old Jews Telling Jokes. Upcoming stops include Dallas, Phoenix, and Palm Springs.
His performance in Brooklyn Boy at GableStage in Miami garnered him a Carbonell nomination.
A much sought-after Emcee and Host, MIKE SMALL has worked with such renowned performers as Robert Klein, David Brenner, Tony Orlando, Lucie Arnaz, and Jon Secada, among others.
As an opening act, he has performed with acts as diverse as The Tokens and Avi Hoffman.
